From the regs
ammunition to hunt bison must be constructed with
a 175 grain or larger bullet, which retains 2,712 joules
(2,000 ft lbs) or more energy at 100 m.
Will have to look at a chart to see what your velocity and energy are at 100.
i dont think it is . a 30-06 barely makes the cut, and i do mean just barely

Big enough? Yes. Legal? No.

Depending on the bullet and load a 308 Win shooting a 180 grain bullet makes anywhere from just under 2100 to just under 2400 ft-lbs of energy at 100 yards. So yes it is legal. That said, I would go for something with more oomph.

Sorry, for some reason I was reading 30-30! :)
The .308 with a 180gr bullet will be legal. Should have about 2300 ft/lbs at 100 yards, which would satisfy both the bullet weight and 2000ft/lbs requirements
.308 180gr ballistic coeficient .450 muzzle 2430fps 2000foot pounds at 100 meters

If you are asking because you have a tag and are wanting to use a .308 win, I hope you have a good hunt and hope you get one with your .308! Good luck, use a high quality bullet and have fun.
