First Moose

My Dad, his girlfriend, brother and I headed to region 6-04 on October 19th for the last hunting trip of the year. Any bull opens in this region on October 20th. The evening of the 20th We were driving around climbing up in elevation and the snow started to come down hard. I seen this guy come on to the road infront of us about 60 yards. He stood perfect broadside and I took the shot. Its was snowing so hard by now I couldnt get a second shot off before he ran into the bush. We went in where his tracks were about 20 yards and found my first blood sign. Followed it until we came up on a wall of willows about another 150 yards away. We heard him grunt and he stood up 15 feet infront of us on the other side of the wall of willows. He looked towards us and i put a shot right behind his ear, as it was the only availible shot. He dropped instantly. He was a bit close for comfort. Now the work began with gutting and getting this moose back to the road and into the truck. It took us 4 hours to get home. He is quite tender. Im still pretty excited!
