Yesterday I did my part to help keep the whitetail invasion at bay. This is mule deer country through and through but in the last 10 years I've been seeing more and more whiteys. For those that bitch and moan on this site about the various issues facing our mule deer populations, IMO they need to get off the keyboard and do something positive to help our struggling mule deer herds. Shooting a big fat whitetail doe like this one is a great start. 10 more days left in the season. Come on, lets get more of these critters hitting the dirt.

Not only are you helping out mule deer, you get fresh tastey whitetail steaks that you can throw on the charcoal grill.

lovemywinchester,
Congrats! That's what I like to see.

Coach,
With how hard we've been hit by the wolves the last few years, I know it'll be a hard uphill battle to find a big ol' muley to pull the pin on. I also have a Nov moose tag that I'll be focused on which also will be a hard one to fill. We've got 3 deer in the freezer now and still a couple more tags for the kids so I would be happy if I just see the kids tag out and I eat my tags.

Nice job, boys. Those look tasty. I'd love to be doing my part in region 3 but have to focus my attention elsewhere at this time. Too bad that GOS didn't go a little longer or open a little sooner.

The four of us took a couple days in the east kootnays and did our part all limiting out on does. Here's a pic of the mornings haul. They are thick in there! It's like hunting on the charlottes!

Just the morning haul, region 4 allows 2 WT does per person, by next morning we had 8 does total (2 each for 4 guys) to limit out. They are thick in there, I'm not sure there would be much of an impact if every hunter there shot their two each.

That is F'n awesome! Love to see the back of the pickup loaded up like that with them damn fleas. Good job!

Keep on postin' them up boys. I know there are some big bad dudes on here that think they are too manly to kill a doe. Time to wise up and wake up to the fact that if we leave the whiteys alone, we can kiss our muleys goodbye.

The doe we shot was in a herd of mulie and wt does. They all live together from what I have witnessed. Saw the same thing shed hunting north of Kamloops this spring. Have you ever seen a mulie buck fight a wt buck Dana?

dana

Yup, A few years ago I video'd a whitey sparring with a muley. I've also watched a whitetail buck chase around a muley doe trying to breed her.

sed8ed,
Years ago, I worked a full summer and fall doing forestry work in those 2 units and I saw whitetails. Not alot, but they are there.

Spent all day sunday out looking for one between merrit and kamloops saw none, ran into the CO also said he did not see any all morning. Did see one 2 point mulie buck but only one mulie tag left between me and my partner and we're holding out for the big daddy. I will also take any suggestions!

Also a reminder to double check the species as we did find the remains of a mulie doe possibly shot by mistake.

I shot a whitetail buck a few years ago that was chasing mulie does. He was tasty too!

Funny how the Farmers in Sask. think the opposite, that the Muleys are running out the whitetails!? They think that the whitetails are less because of the expansion of the muleys... I tend to think the same as Dana on this one, but just thought I'd mention it for the sake of conversation...

we dropped 4 whitey does in reg 3 in the last 2 weeks...as far as whities pushing out the mulies I have to say it is 100% true in the area I was in the last 2 weeks. I would usually see at least a couple mulie does any day I would go into my area, that being said I can count the number of mulies I saw on one hand in a 2 week span hunting all day every day...amazing how quickly the main species in that area has changed. 2 years ago I would rarely see a whitey, now that basically all we saw.
