Ok guys.. pics to come , thanks to..
Bowhunterbruce . Now you all can see im not yankin any legs!
Story follows like this.

Opening morning for spike/fork moose region 8
Had very high hopes in getting a spike fork that very day but knew the odds were low.
Never the less, i still had a very good feeling about seeing an imy that day.
4:15 am rise stoke the wood stove make eggs n bacon .
Leave around 5:15 and were off for.our 45 minute drive .
Get there a while.before.dark waited for.shooting light and the day started.

We. Walk 1.5 k around the lake and into a meadow around the tail of the water that is 2-3 k in length
Walk around the entire thing all.morning lots of sign track everything you want to see. And absolutly no
Animals were.sighted.
As we get around the lake and almost back.to.the truck there is a.tiny meadow beside.the lake .
We.hear a huge snap to our right a few hundred.yards into.the.trees .

Way to thick to go.hiking.thru.
Next thing i know there is a huge bodied spike mulie 15 yards away with a doe and two fawns.
Watched for a.minute or to and they walked off into the thick.timber .
Feeling id have beter luck if i waited seeing as.there is still.3 weeks for mulie .
Anyhow.

We get back to.the truck at 8:40 am . And planned on heading into another area an hour away .
Back the truck.up and start heading out just around the bend not 3-400 yards from were i was parked
This 2x3 imy bolts out in front of us . And runs into a.clear cut.
Quartering away looking back i put a 150 grain from my cooey 30-06 right into his.neck from 50 yards
Dropped.in his tracks .

Didnt expect it to happen that way but it did! Lol
Very good eats. I still beleive its beginners luck. But hey my tag is cancled!
We figure the.snao we heard was him making his way thru the trees. Must have been perfect timing!

Now to get a big stinky mulie now that we got some snow!
Happy hunting

Mc

Great job finding and killing the rarest of animals - a spike/fork moose. There's some trophy table fare right there. Congratulations!

Best tasting meat i have ever had! Deer will never taste the same.. lol
I will still enjoy it tho. My boy wouldnt touch mulie , was ok with WT.
left him asking for more with.this moose.

I wonder if a mature bull.would taste much different?

Congrads on the moose!
Heres what they look like alive folks, I passed on this dummy in region 3 on opening day, 100 yards from a major logging road, enroute to a sheep hunt.
Watched him for 10 minutes, laid on the horn and he wouldnt even run???
