So we drew the much coveted 3-39 bull moose leh this year allowing our group to harvest any 2 mature bulls. We started out to clearwater on sunday sept 30 and had camp set up well before the rest of our party arrived.
With a few hours of daylight left in the day, I did a little fishing and caught a few nice trout to start the trip.
The following morning our tags were activated and we were off before first light. Little brother betterofffishing and I left in one direction and our buddy took off in the other. The old farts we were with slept late . About 15 mins before legal light we have a nice bull cross the road in front of us just as we were making our way in to the series of cutblocks we were hunting that morning. We decided it was a good omen and continued with the hunt. I dropped of bro about 100 yds down rd from where bull went in and i carried on further up the road. 2 hours later shots rang out but they were a fair ways off. After wrapping up our morning hunt we headed back to camp to find our buddy had filled our first tag.

back to fishing for a few hours and a few more fish caught.
The following morning we were at it again and after a long day of hunting, we decided to head back to camp, with around half an hr of legal light left, we rounded a corner to see a nice bull with 3 cows trotting away from us. Out of the truck I jumped and got loaded as fast as i could while at a full gallop after the bull. About 35 yds later I stopped and drew a bead on him, he stopped broadside at about 20 yds away and bang. He went about 15 yds and dropped dead in a cutblock.
After about 6 hours of winching him down, spilling him and loading him in the trailer we headed back to camp. We skinned him out at camp and headed to bed around 2am.
T
he following morning offered up a glorious sight.

Another busy morning of cutting, cleaning and hanging. 2 days into our week long moose hunt and both our tags were filled. we spent the rest of the week looking for immatures, deer and bear. Saw tons of moose but no immys, Saw a few decent bears but nothing that offered a shot. Thursday saw us in a new area that showed promise of holding deer, by noon that day, betteroff managed to tag out on a nice little dink buck and once again it ws back to camp to clean and hang

All in all it was a great week with lots of meat to fill the freezers.
