So this is a spin off idea from the thread "How many rounds do you carry on you while day hunting? (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/showthread.php?86887-How-many-rounds-do-you-carry-on-you-while-day-hunting)" With the comments of carrying extra ammo if you get lost. And I thought some new people might read that thread and get a bad idea carrying to few rounds without having full info on what else people carry. Even if they are only packing 3/6 rounds in their pockets.

So on to the show,
(I only take out 6 rounds in my 7mm Mag personally)
- Hand Radio
- Compass
- small LED flashlight
- LED head lamp
- Game calls
- Lighter
- Matches
- newspaper
- Paper towel
- rope (30 feet)
- skinning kit
- medic kit
- solar silver blanket thing
- extra socks (in a baggy)
- 3 extra AA's (in a baggy)
- GPS
- Water
- Henry Survival .22
- 100 to 150 case of .22
- extra gloves
- whistle
- If its hot I will also pack or strap my jacket to the pack. Never leave camp without my jacket
- usually some snacks

The pack comes in at about 8-12lbs not sure. So whats in your day pack?

-10 rounds
- Hand Radio
- Compass and GPS
- small LED flashlight
- LED head lamp
- Game calls
- Lighter x2 (You never know, and it's worth every ounce)
- Matches (Usually in an old 35mm film canister)
- 3 WET FIRE cubes (Stuff is amazing and weighs nothing)
- Part roll of TP in a ziploc.
- rope (30 feet)
- skinning knife and sometimes a bone saw, depending what I'm hunting
- Leatherman Wave
- compression pad and triangular bandage
- SOL emergency bivy
- Sil tarp 1 and some thin cord
- roll of flagging tape
- 3 extra AA's and 1 9v (in a baggy)
- Water and a couple pouches of Emergen-C
- Toque and extra gloves, along with a wool/fleece shirt.
- Clif bars, fruit bars and some jerky, along with a small bag lunch

Lately I find myself packing my Jet Boil Sol and 1 or 2 MH meals as light weight "Plan B"

Definately missing a couple things, but it's pretty close.

Actually my fire starter cubes and garbage bag migrated out of my pack a few years back and I never replaced them. Thanks for the reminder they are back in now.

If according to the regs we have to retain evidence of species and sex, then we all should have
condoms and cameras in our packs so we can take pics of ourselves having safe sex with the game
after we cancel our tags...isn't that the way you guys interpret the rules? ;-)

I was thinking the same thing but while we're at it might as well throw in a hooker to carry it all.

Dont forget zap straps and some duct tape.

Duct tape, ya I got that, but it is wrapped around my trekking pole, while the electrical tape is wrapped around the end of the gun barrel. Should put a little around a lighter too, as that's a damn good idea.

Gotta ask, what have you guys used zap-straps for on a day hunt?
Pick-up "Jimmy Riggin'", don't count, as that's what the glovey is for. I do carry 1 or 2 spare boot laces though, as they cover a lot of bases.

Always have zap straps in my pack, handy item to have and weigh next to nothing. Have never used them but one day I will. Havent had to use bullets for 2 years and I still pack them to haha

Zap straps have many uses. I keep two in my kit.

After cutting around the anus use a zap strap to cinch it shut so that when you pull it through the carcass while gutting, no poop falls into the cavity. Some people do this with string but the zap strap is way easier.

i use a set of forseps old ones from the 60`s keeps the pooper closed and its reuseable so no waste well except the guts lol
