My brother heard about someone who had shot some wolves "up north" - not sure where - that had mange. Has anyone else run into this recently? Maybe mange is what will freeze out the wolf population and save the ungulates. Any comments?

Seen mange in coyotes up North (FSJ). Mange could definitely help the wolf populations move in the right direction.

Mange most likely will not reduce the wolf population.

Mange did not eliminate wolves and coyotes when first introduced in Montana in the early 1900's as a biological control. Mange is still prevalent in many areas of Canada and the USA and is not killing coyotes and wolves faster than they will reproduce.

A 2010 study on the effects of mange in continental US wolves shows that this parasite is not effective in reducing canine populations.

Agreed.
Just look at all the Hairless Wonders running rampant, here in the Fraser Valley (yotes).

New one's keep showing like popcorn in a movie theater.
