Had to bee line it up to the hunting cabin for the weekend, so here is our belated opening morning story. It appeared that I was going to have to join the masses out on the saltchuck for a duck shoot but a last minute scouting report from field marshall had Jamie and I unloading the boat and duck decoys that were put in the truck no more than 1/2 hour earlier.
We were going to join field marshall and his grandson james to give the geese a shot. we were all hoping maybe we could turn a few our way as we were not setup on the "X".We had one flock come by before shooting light and I prayed they wouldn't be the only ones.Well as it turned out I didn't need to worry.
From the time the opening volleys in the distance got the birds off the roost til one hour and 55 minutes later we were swamped with birds. One of the most hectic hunts of my life. We passed on anything at marginal range and still managed 40 canadas and a bonus 4 specks.
