Hey,so me and the old man are getting a cabin at loon lake from oct 20-26 and I was wondering if any one has any pointers on the area or knows areas to stay away from,it's just going to be a deer trip but I know immature moose are open, any tips are most appreciated.

I have hunted there a bit. Lots of deer around. I've seen more deer south and east of loon lake than north, but there is definitely deer everywhere out there. A bunch of them do migrate out of there around the end of oct. Though we saw quite a few up there in november as well. Good luck

Is there much of a white tail population there or would it mostly be mulies? It turns out my dads going to be in kamloops for the first couple days until he finishes the job he's on,so I'll be heading up solo and completely new to the area.

If looking for a wt deer as well as moose/mule deer go east and south of the lake, don't see alot of w/t there but all reports/sightings I get are out east.
I will PM you with more info if needed.

Got back last night, didn't get a thing missed a coyote and a grouse saw a wolf on private land a couple of hundred does easily and 4 or 5 bucks that were smart enough to keep to private land, a little disappointing but still better than being at work.

Yep was snowing as soon as I pulled on to loon lake road it would melt during the day and then we'd get a light dusting again over night, then it'd be warm and sunny then cloudy then really cold the weather was really screwy to say the least. We hunted north and east of the lake and spent a little time to the south. One guy got a moose and then next day got a 4 point buck.

Sounds good Fido, we were staying at white moose your inlaws are super friendly and helpful people, even though we didnt get anything we saw lots just nothing we could shoot if anyone is thinking of hunting up that way in the future I'd definetly recommend staying there.
