Moose hunt 2012

Well..... finally got the 8-12 bull draw after about 12+ years of applying! We landed the worst odds in BC for moose on a shared hunt! After jamming on the annual north trip for moose, we planned a week off for the local trip instead. What was to be a 7 day trip was cut pretty short! On the 1st day, at 1st light, in the 1st cut, my buddy Brad had dropped a nice bull!(after passing me with his quad on the way up to THE spot!!) Buddy Shawn was behind me about 10 mins on his quad. As I pulled up to Brads abandoned quad on the corner of a cutblock, scabbard, open, rifle gone, I shut off my truck! I could here him calling my name ! About 30 yds off the road, there he is, arms raised, "bull down" laughing! Could'nt believe it! Quickly thinking, and probably a bit greedy, I said, " deal with the bull, I'm heading up to my cut to see if there is anything there before it gets too late! He agreed, as Shawn was to hunt a different cut as well! As we are talking, he says "moose"! Pointing to the far edge of the cut, there is a cow standing there! I raise my bino's, and out walks a bull!!!!! 250 yds away, I steady Maggie, and pow, bull down!!! After the high fiving and laughing, Shawn pulls up and says what's all the shooting? He was stunned! Not much of a stellar ,exciting hunt, but sometimes evreything just works out perfectly!! We managed to skid both bulls out (by their noses) with the quads, got em halved, hung, and the rums started flowing by about noon!! Sweet! We had all the meat down to the butcher the next day, and thought "hey" we still have 5 days left to hunt! Off to the elk hole. Not much moving for elk here, so we concentrated on Muley's instead. Managed a couple of meat bucks. A great trip with great friends! Now we get Picky!!!!

Nice, 2 bulls and rums by noon..... can't complain about that at all! Nice hunt.

Those bulls look like twins! Way to go. Sometimes things just work out. Hope you still got to enjoy some bush time -that's the only down side to early success.

I should mention that as we downed the bulls, and were dressing the 1st one, we had a bull grunting madly at us about 30-40 yds in the timber! Ruttin Hard !!!!!

Sounds like a great trip congratulations on a couple fine moose, and a couple deer never hurts either.
