Heading up to the Sheridan Lake area for the first time in a week.

Are there many (if any) whitetails in that area? I'm usually a region 3 guy.... Thanks for any advice!

Long time troller first time poster.... HAHAHAHA

You have a way better chance seeing mule deer, there is the odd whitey around but chances are you will see mostly muleys.

Not worth buying a tag for. Hunted around there for longtime and have never seen one. Asked people I know that live there, they have seen the odd one every couple years.

No doubt about the muleys... Was just wondering if I'd see any WT skulking around.
Will be in the sheridan lake area.

I was up there last weekend with sapper on here, one guy our group ran into swore they saw a whitetail doe but I think the whitey's aren't very common in 5.1. Lots of muleys though.

Yes, there are whitetail, but they're mostly on private farms. Have seen them around Green Lake and the north side of Bridge Lake.

It's appreciated! I've got a tag already as ill be working the region 3 area later in the month. I decided that this year I would try new terrain. It's a risk, spending a week in all new area.

How is it a risk spending time in new area to hunt? Scouting and hunting in new areas is what it is all about! It could only be bad once, but it could also give you a new fall back area. Good luck finding a whitetail!

Better to have a tag just in case. Suck if u seen a real cranker and no tag.

its always worth buying a tag if someone sees just one every couple years...guaranteed you'll see one if you don't have a tag. Not like you gotta write a check for a million dollars for the tag

It's the law of hunting isn't it.... Dont get that tag... and you are gauranteed to see the trophy of a lifetime.

I mentioned it was a "risk" as normally I'm a big fan of pre-season scouting so that I'm not wasting time, but being effective in the terrain.

I have just returned from our place near Lone Butte. I saw more whitetails than mule deer on this trip.No bucks but tons of does. Get a tag

Yes - the whitetails are in the Horse lake area and and the Northside of Horse Lake - Doman road area ! The ridge above horse lake to the north side is now very much populated with whitetails ! Good Luck ! :) RJ

My buddy shot what he thought was a mulie from a distance and when they got up to it it was a whitetail. He had both tags so no probs. Better safe then sorry for $15.
