Managed to finally get some time off next week. Rather than stomp around locally, going to venture out to the kootenays for an elk hunt. Time to see some new country. Was thinking of hunting around the Invermere area as i may have a place to stay, if not will be tenting it.

I know, I know but I'm going to ask anyway :-D Any pointers  Would like to do some quadding and hiking. Any road closure areas that are worth a hike into? Better to head further East? Or just pick a road, put the boots on and go?

Thanks

Look for the road closures in the regs. There's lots around invermere. Couple of the best spots for elk are on the west side of the valley.

Bulls probably won't be too active, so best if you can find a spot up a road closure with slides that you can sit and glass (google earth is your friend). If there's a hot cow or two around you might get lucky and get into some action.

You could always thin down the herd of Albertans if you are in Inveremere. They are the ones with no front licsence plates.
