Ok so a little back story about myself first. I have been hunting for 14 years now and have hunted deer from the start with my dad, so why its taken me this long to get a muley is beyond me! I have shot plenty of whitetail which I hear are harder to hunt, but dont understand why... Anyway I have hunted solely for muleys but the closest I have gotten to putting one down has been a 6 poiter up in the Monte Hills! That would have been nice, but I didnt have a good shot so I didnt take it, but I regretted it.
So the plan this morning was to get up before the sun and walk to my favourite spot, sit and wait. At 6:30 my wife woke me up... and the sun was up! Not a good start! So I grabbed some coffee, and left over dinner and got in my truck. I decided last minute to change where I was going to hunt this morning, and drove up to a spot I havent been to for 5 years, but I knew most people that hunt up there are too lazy to get out of the truck so I would hit the old skidder trail, sit and wait.
Once I get to the area I want to be in, all I see are the blank stares of cows, GREAT! So I quickly load my Rem700 25.06, and my jacket and head up the trail. After about a half km walk I got to a nice spot to sit and wait. I stayed where i walked in and glassed the hills and saw nothing. I was about to turn around to find a nice spot to sit when i heard about a 100 yards back, a branch snap, BUSTED! I moved to where I could see better up the hill, and saw a 2 pointer heading away up the hill. Safety off, and gun up I line up a shot, I yelled and it stepped to the ideal broadside shot! BOOM, and it dropped. I gave it about 5 mins, walked up and gave a loud cheer to myself! GO ME! lol.
