If you are looking for a bear, that looks like a good one to me. I haven't many bears but the ears look smallish and it looks nice and plump. As long as that is berry fat and not fish fat on it, i'd say shoot.

Last week I saw one of the biggest black bears I have ever seen, in the company of two others. I had my 3006 and he was 150yds out, decided to pass because were he was I figured it would be a slim chance of knocking him down where he stood and a very good chance of killing him. Bear smokies are made from medium sized easy to get bears.

I'd definitely want to sneak in on that guy and slip an arrow between his ribs! Nice bear! Why did you let him walk?

My intension was to down a nice bull elk on that trip, trust me i was really temped but the ridge he was on had some nice bulls passing through during daylight hours. I am positive if my lab was not with me i would have had to shoot him, because of the fact that he came running in to the calf and cow mews i was giving 10 minutes previously!! Im gratfull that she stoped him right in his tracks giving me some time to take some pictures instead of letting lead fly!!

Looks like a decent bear, tummy seems to be round and low to the ground. Hard to say how tall the grass is though. Ears are not large but they are not small either and not a huge amount of space between them. There are bigger bears out there. I think this is a mid to large bear.

If I was trophy bear hunting, it would have walked. But then again I live on the Island where Jim Shockey shoots Monster bears around every corner. (joke).

I said no, but only cause its a fat sow, and not a trophy bear. At least not to me, though if she were dry, I'd have no problem with you or anyone else dropping her....

I think we have a medium sized bear that's in real good shape.

For me it ain't a shooter.
For someone that just wants meat for a freezer, probably good enough.

The last pic is a dead give away, the short pointy snout.

Fat, mature sows are one of the tougher bears to judge, as they have all the proportions of a BIG bear, but the subtle features give them away....
