Heading out to the cabin

It's been a long time coming as it feels like forever since I have been up to the cabin. I am so looking forard to this Thanksgiving weekend. I have my beautiful daughters and hubby joinng me as well as my new son Josh (Azshia's bf), it is however unfortunate that Breanne's beau can't make it and especially my babe Braydon, who has just started his 3rd season of hockey in Alberta.

I am really hoping to have some hunting success up there for deer and a black bear. We didn't get a draw this year so the mosse get a reprive from me stalking them...hahahaha but I do know where they are so just biding my time for another LEH.

Hunting this season so far is deer plenty - Ali 0 same goes for Peter so far nothing, although we did get a few grouse a few weeks ago.....hoping this weekend to change that 0 into success.

Take care everyone out in the bushes, the antis are on the warpath and hunters are #1 targets.

LOL Yes Mike I am taking a turkey up, can't be Thanksgiving with out a turkey, especially when its slow rosted in a wood oven...cabin will smell heavenly...oh and Peter is more a flamingo than a turkey

Ali & Breanne, Been doing a lot of thinkin about that adoption, We will have to sit down and talk this one over a cool one, Sure was happy to meet 2 super nice ladies and as I said hope to do it again soon, Take care girls and sorry your trip did not happen, turn out real nice in Clearwater, can't believe it no snow. Well just to put it all in to perspective, I attended a funeral Saturday, for a wonderful 29 year old young lady with a bright future before her, but brain cancer struck, she was gone within a month or so of being operated on, so count your blessings, there is always another chance for us.

OKAY

well we did finally make the trip to the cabin. Peter and I drove up this past weekend. We left on friday and came home tuesday. Not for lack of trying, cause we sure put as many miles on the truck as we could but to no avail. It is still deer/bear winnin against me. We saw one very beautiful plump doe and her youngin, but buck dad was no where in the area. I did manage to play with my fun gun (.410/.22) and got a nice fill of grouse. Peter on the other hand, well he did far better as a trapper but not of the fur trapper kind, more the rodent kind....he caught a mouse, 2 packrats and flattened 1 mole in the ruts in the road, lol. Okay he did get a couple grouse too. The weather was extraordinary and the fall colours like a painting. It was nice to be there without the kids but, yes we missed them cause they really enjoy it there as well.

A little humour for you: Peter brought my crossbow up with us, I have wanted to practise shooting it as i dont get much opportunity. He set up a target and decided to give it a few shots before me havin a go. I believe he took 8 shots and they were all over the target, no grouping...he adjusted my scope a little and still could not get it where he wanted...I was trying to not giggle, I said let me try....so I set myself up... aim and sent that arrow into flight and BAM dead center.... I should have had the camera rolling just to get his expression....I loaded up and sent another flying and BAM yup next to the other....he says get out.....tells me to aime a lower box on target for next one and BAM dead center of box....he took the bow from me...zipped her back in her case and said there its done...... still making me giggle
