so i got up early in the am with the hunting buddy(bcgamehunter) so we headed to a local "hotspot" also where i had seen a couple two points during 4 point season.so we got in the bush just as you could barely see and set up the blind and tried to rattle something in(2 weeks ago i tried this in the same spot and rattlied in a 2 point) so we stayed there for the first few hours till about 830 than got back to the truck and decided to head further up to the cut blocks. Then drive for a bit and dont see much sign so i decide to turn around and go back to the lower cut blocks.me and my hunting partner are talking away and driving and all of a sudden a huge 3 point bolts across the road one of the biggest bodied deer i think i have seen.We try to track it down a game trail that he went down and after a hour or so gave up he was moving pretty fast then we hike up the road a bit then go back to the truck and head down to a road that i had seen the two point before and we are driving and start turning around a corner and my hunting partner sees something so we get out and he looks through the binos and sure enough my hunting partner says 2 point at this point i had the gun on the deer and it was loaded and as soon as he said 2 point boom i released the 180grain fusion from the 300 win mag and MISSED! DAMN! so i rack anotherone in the chamber and he looked liked he was about to run and my buddy bcgamehunter(chris) yells HEY!!!!!!! the deer stops and looks and he sees the 180grain fusion rip through his 2 lungs and he takes of running so being my first deer i run after him like he stole my wallet! he ran into the timber and through a ton of fallen trees

than after i take a few deep breaths and wait for chris to move my truck from the middle of the road we go in serach of the buck.we start looking in the cut block where i had shot the buck for blood cant find any blood at all.so we go in the timber and start to look for some blood and we start to find some BLOOD!

I guess that is the type of blood trail your looking at if you shoot him with a bazoka ;) Surprised he went 250 yards!! Congrats on your first, and thanks for posting.

Congratulations!! I knew it would come together for you sooner or later - you live in too good an area for it not too. Was it close to home or did you burn some gas? Looks a lot like the area I told you about.

Congrats. May it be the first of many. For future reference, a well hit animal will usually go much farther if you persue it, as panic and adrenaline kick in. Staying put and keeping quiet for 10 or 15 minutes takes a lot of effort, but a good practice. Again, congrats, and I hope you don't mind a friendly pointer.

Great going on your 1st deer !!!

Any pics of what happened on the opposite side (exit),i know what my 300 did to a spiker i took last week near Kimberly, fortunately,it was a neck shot,so no meat was lost.

Congrats dude! Your first is the one you'll never forget.... I mounted the antlers of my first one with the empty case of the bullet that shot it and had it engraved with the date and location as well. Ah the memories...............

Congrats on both bear and "finally" buck. A fine looking deer at that. Should really complement that bear on the diner table. Great story and photos.
