So, Everett and I went out to the same spot he got his goat last year..... but this time it was me with the tag. We walked in for first-light and saw 3 goats right away in the bowl. I tried stalking them while Everett held the dogs, but they got up too high on a cliff. We hiked up into another bowl, but saw nothing else. Returning at about 12ish in the afternoon, we spotted goats again, but down a little lower..... and now there were 5 - different goats from the group we saw first. I made another attempt to go ahead and stalk them. Measured 320 yards on the range-finder (very long for me) but got comfy on my pack as a rest. I made the shot and thought I hit it because it sprang up. But, after following it with our binoculars and then hiking up some sketchy stuff, we confirmed that I had missed completely.... no dead goat to be found anywhere; there were still 5 goats moving around (they went a little higher, but felt secure enough to hang around). We watched them for an hour - no hurt goats or bloody bullet holes on their white fur. We were satisfied that I had just completely missed so I made another attempt, luckily from much closer. This time it hit just where I wanted it to. It staggered a bit and then fell off the ledge....almost on top of Everett!!!! Luckily, he got out of the way in time and the goat went tumbling down the hill. The fall knocked one of the horns off, but I was able to find it while Everett gutted my goat. I then came back down to help skin and bone it out. I kept the fleece to clean up and will do a European mount with the skull.

This was such an awesome day!

Well done, congrats. My first goat did the same thing and lost a horn after it fell off a cliff. I unfortunately never did find the other horn.
