View Full Version : Last day of Ling-codding

Very busy weekend for this family had us out for Lings on the closing day!!

Set the crab and prawn traps, the jigged some live "Tommy cod" for bait.

Proceeded to our Ling hole and dredged up 3 nice ones!!

Grandson Jamesy landed the biggest one at 35lbs. Two others around 10lbs.

I managed to knock 1 about 25lbs. off grandson Alex's line with a bad gaffing job???:-(

He was not impressed!!! Anyway a good end to the season, hope everyone else was fortunate enough
to put in a winter supply of Fish and Chips ??----Cheers---Field Marshal. A Pic will be forthcoming!!

Very nice! We were out too,trying for everything.Got our prawns & crabs,a few rockfish,but no Ling.We did well, overall, in our hotspots too this year,biggest at 27 lbs.The water has been flat calm,so nice.Hoping to use the new boat this winter and stay out in the "off season".
I really need to get serious though about some venison to go wtih those fish & chips!

Nice fish, FM! Should be some great eating. I'm sure Alex will forgive you one day.. :-P

I really hate to keep any Ling's over 20 pounds as I find the meat to be a little loose, but it's hard to let a big one go when the kids are with me.

This one was 38 pounds.

Pretty sure all experienced know this??? Try telling that to an 11yr. old with the biggest fish of his life
on the line!! By the way , lingcod stocks are in no way, shape or form ENDANGERED!!! Yeah they were closed for awhile, for no other reason than political bullshit!!!:-(----Cheers---Field Marshal.

I agree field marshal, no problem finding lings, and they eat the rock cod like nothing else.
