where to look for black bear now..

yes i know they are around dumps etc, but really where should i look for them, what do they eat now?

any major food sources. This time of year they have to fatten up for hibernation. Berries patches are a great start. Any little creek also that salmon are running

I have noticed a lot of bear crap around 1000-1200m as well as higher up around 4000m. So pretty much anywhere there are berries. The crap is all seeds. I havent actually seen a bear but they are out there.

Higher altitudes where there is still blueberries and grassy meadows.The bigger fellas will hang up high away from the quadders and road hunters.Still lots of time to do some glassing and stalking.I also look for "year round" drainages that hold moisture.They'll hold green vegetation and keep the bears in the general area.I'd like to get out there,need some damn rain!..oops,I said that outloud didn't I !

Just this past Saturday I was in the hills behind Mission. The crap was full of blackberries and blueberry seeds. We did see one shooter, but he saw us first. Don't give up yet they're a long way from sleeping.

My last time out I came across 2 wasp nests that bears had destroyed and a big area where the bear had been turning over logs and rocks looking for grubs. I've also noticed lots of berry seed in the scat I've seen.

have a look in my back yard right now, ****er is in my Fir tree huffing at me, trying to get some work done in shed in the back yard, didn't see him in the dark, flood light projecting over the rest of the yard blinds you to the rest, just about scared the chit out of me when I heard him huff and start climbing the tree 6 feet away. Oh how I want to put a bullet between his beady eye's he's been terrorizing the neighbourhood for years.

try a sling shot ....apparently it is very funny :)
anyways.....I just came back and did not see a single blackie.....I do not have luck in the fall season for the bears...only one in last three years..:(
