Sept 22 i hiked in an area i wanted to explore, heard allot about this area and wanted to see it for myself and actually see if the rumors were true of the game about. So 4am'ish i made my way to the trailhead with mom and her friend. My mother and John who is slow/handicap love the scenery of the hikes we've been doing july-aug and started tagging along in the hunting season now.

Long story short, i saw 3 nice bears in the 11.9 miles we did in our day hike.. i stalked on the first one and tried cutting across and down a valley to shorten the distance but screwed it all up because i stalked in with the wind to my back! ;D i knew this and point it out in my short video prior to sneaking up to the last point where im sure ill see him. I started rushing the stalk and wasnt approaching like i should because my mom and john were getting tired/slow/& scared and i was urging to go strong to the glassing point for their first break from the trailhead ::)

The other bears i saw i never even attempted to stalk in...not enough time in our day hike to stalk in, shoot, handle one and pack it out with daylight.

thanks for reading...hope you enjoy the pics and video.

Please if you know this area please do not post where it is..

And the video of the bear stalk

Beautiful country and great video too. Yes a kill on cam would have been great, but still a lot of fun to watch. Thanks for sharing

Hey thanks for sharing, a coffee in the morning reading and viewing actual hunting footage is awesome. But I tell ya, you work way to hard for bears, but something tells me it was the kill your hiking for!

Thanks again

Great photos and video! Next time your up there check the bowl to the North. You dont have to walk the same way as there is another trail to feed that bowl. Shot my first 4 point in that bowl 1990. Always, always bears in there......and yes my mouth is shut!

I love hunting bears with hounds, this bear was going to let my mom experience an actual hunt and they really wanted meat... But I don't think they understood the real work it would be to get one out lol

No doubt, getting that bear would have changed the look of your "day" hike! :-)

That is some beautiful country!

Nice pics and vids, thanks for sharing.

Negative on the snow patch Kirby. You're south of him and about half a km to the west. Great country.
