Nice deer, not trying to be a dick or sound like an ass but the first rule applies to your reply.

(Treat every firearm as if it were loaded) I've lost count on how many guys get caught up in the Moment and chamber another round only to forget all about it till they go to load a round later, unload their magazine or worse accidental discharge.

As I said I'm not trying to act Like a know it all I just don't want to see any fellow hunters killed or injured.

Nice buck and congrats.

I'm with Matty though. I know a guy blew a hole in his catalytic converter with a "safe and checked and unloaded" gun as he was putting it into his truck.
He kept it as a reminder how close he came and to show other guys. And good for him for rising above his vanity to do so.
From then on, I don't even trust myself. They're loaded all the time as far as I'm concerned.

love it when everyone forgets the whole point of this pic and keeps bringing up his gun. its pretty hard to rest your gun in good positions for a pic i always want my gun in my pics and they dont always sit where you want or how you want, if he says its unloaded its unloaded its his choice iv done the same thing. drop it. good job on the deer bro

Nice buck! I assume you are intelligent enough to not point a rifle with a chambered round at your face, so I'd just ignore the rest of the comments. ;)

Swampdonkey, I don't think people are trying to rain on your parade. I think you're taking it the wrong way. Your reaction however and callous response indicate to me that you're not willing to listen when people are offering helpful advice. That's not a good character trait. Safety first all the time. I know because I almost killed my best friends brother and it still haunts me when I think about it.

Nice deer by the way.

I don't see anyone "bitching" on this post at all? Just a few people pointing out that you've got your rifle pointed at your chest that's all. And rule #1 (to some of us anyways) is to always assume your gun is loaded....

Anywhooooo........

Congrats on a nice buck!

Nice deer, too bad the thread couldn't have been about the deer rather than a bunch of jacka$$'s giving you their two bits on gun safety. A lot of armchair hunters with wild TV on this site.

...until proven safe. Which he says he did. My choice for a field pic? No, but not the end of the world to have an empty steel pipe pointed at you either.

Anyhow, nice buck!

Hahaha....man oh man. Some people cant just say "Wow nice buck, congrats!"

What the hell do those guys do when they put their rifles away in their cases in the truck (or home) and they are pointed in several directions? Yikes...

Congrats on a cool hunt!!! Ignore the other posts....lol

Why can't you guys just accept that the guy shot a nice buck, unloaded his rifle and took a picture and nobody was in danger at any time?

While I agree it's best to handle all guns as if they were loaded, there is a point when the gun is unloaded and not a danger to anyone else. I've pointed lots of muzzles at myself when cleaning, examining a bore, checking the crown, lining up a chronograph or when a rifle is in the back seat of my truck.

Cripes, it's like someone has to add a "nobody was harmed while taking this photograph" disclaimer....Get over it, the thread is about his hunting trip, not his photo taking abilities.

thank you gatehouse! and everyone else who realize this was about my hunting trip not where my guns pointing after it was unload and made sure it was safe, hope you all have a safe hunting season, cheers
