So after about 25 years of putting in for region 3 moose draws I finally get one in 3-29. My 13 year old and I went to the peace country for moose. Leave on the 25 of Aug. arrive late. aug26 set up camp, have supper, then head out for a drive to where he got his first moose last year. 500 yards from where he got his bull last there's a 2x3 bull. son my son bails out of the truck the bull looks a him, Whack .270 between the eyes, flop. Load him in the truck back to camp skin and wipe with vinegar and water. 1:30 am off to bed.aug26 Up a 6am load moose and bring it pouce to the butcher. Have a bite to eat then to friends place for a shower and visit. 3 pm heading back to camp a big mature bull standing on side of rd. were wiped and don't need that much more meat so I let him walk. Aug 27 -30 enjoy camp some half hearted hunting and a little bit of scouting for elk. Aug 31 went for drive and bull runs into a patch of timber so I skirt the patch of timber and peek in to the cut block. 3 bulls and a big cow. Line up on the smallest bull with the 30 06 bang flop. repeat day one, off to butcher again. On way back camp anohter bull but we were tagged out. sept 1 Elk season had one come to bggle in the late evening but couldn't tell if it was legal. sept 2 head back to the Loops so my son has a day of rest before grade 9. So I'll have reduced odds for moose next yerar so I guesse I will go to the peace again !
8 days 6 bull moose, 3 cow moose, 6 anterless elk, 1 bull elk (size unknown.) 1 bear, 0 grouse !, few dozen deer.
