Took my ten year old to the Okanagan for opening of the youth hunt for mule deer Sept 1. Lots of deer but only a couple of small bucks. One jumped into the timber before we could get a shot off and the other managed to give us the sneak 3 times after a long range spot and stalk. Riley did get a quick shot off as the buck made its last step into the timber but it was a clean miss. He did manage to get his first kill with the new 7-08, a great 100 yard shot on a coyote. The other two kids in our group got bucks so there were a few around. Riley was a great partner and kept a great positive attitude for the entire 4 days of the hunt, always ready to get back out there and hopeful that it could happen at any moment. Cant wait to get him back out thhis weekend for a try at an island blacktail. Heres a few pics.
