My son were planning on going down the Kooteney-Settler FSR and going hunting. Is there any quaint camping spots along this stretch where we could park a 24foot trailer. ANy information would be great.

It is like a highway lots of places to camp. There are FS camsites at 3 or 4 diferent locations. the best hunting is way off the road but you never know where you will find game.

So the road is good all the way through from north of Radium to Canal Flats? Where is the best quietest campsite in your opinion? I hear the Little Elk FSR campsite is pretty nice.

There is good spots all along settler road, we camped at around 40-45km mark I believe, there were several spots close by that would fit many trailers. We did have two deer stolen in the night by bears though, so hang em high. Its a nice area.

White Swan Lake is nice, but the road with a 24 foot camper leaves skid marks in your shorts.

Saw a huge Griz on settlers last year had a smaller Griz in camp on the other side of the river as well. There is good camping Just before the Bridge if you are coming from Canal Flats. Fenwick Creek Rec Site can handle long trailers as well. If you are coming From the Park side lots of good spots for a trailer on both sides of the River.

Had a couple 'shatty' experiences with grizz there.
Quiet... the only place that is quiet is well off the roads because it can be busy, real busy. Good game for the guy that will hike for it and I bet the kid will have a good time.

Goats are LEH.

My mistake, you are correct.....although 4-34 and 4-36 are close by so a day trip to look around might not be a bad idea.

There is a few but without inside knowledge and whole lot of luck you will not even see a sheep. There plenty of Elk some mule deer and insane amounts of WT deer.

The main FSR sites will be pretty full so expect to be camping with lots of other people close by. Gorgeous area to hunt though!

Hunted that way a few years back, went in on the Settlers Rd. and we camped at Fenwick Creek. There is a good spot for a trailer a ways before Fenwick, on left. Cross the bridge at Fenwick and there is lots of room to turn around. Good spot for hunting, hope this helps.

coming from canal flats there is lots of camping along the kootenay river. Fenwick is a decent place to camp. There are a couple good camp spots off the ravenshead road. I saw griz tracks each morning and saw two bears on the main road. There is a nice camp at the albert creek bridge and another further up the road at the road closure.
