On Saturday my 4yr old daughter and I went out for an afternoon goose hunt. This was her first hunt in a blind with decoys and a full set up. With it being such a nice sunny warm day I thought this would be a good introduction into her goose hunting days before she gets to experience all the fun of sitting in the rain and cold later in the year.

It was a slow afternoon, but we spent the time telling stories, drinking hot chocolate and paying with the dog. Finally around 6 pm we get a flight of birds over the field. They turn and come in great, and my daughter gets to see the whole event as they set their wings and glide in. I try to do my part but can only double out of the group. Luck was on our side though as the remaining geese turn and come back in and I am able to take one more.

We sat for another hour or so, watch as birds move around the area but no more come into us. It was a great afternoon/evening and fun was had by all.

Enjoy the pics.

Start them young and keep it interesting. You'll almost always have a hunting buddy!! Great pics.

Hey Jamie,

looks like she had a great day. Good Job getting her out there to enjoy it.

On a side note, I have an extra frame pack at home. Maybe the little one would like to try her hand as a Sherpa for our Elk trip next week  Well, maybe a bit too small yet

I'll show you some good spots next week where there's some great youth seasons.

two thumbs up! Keep an eye on wingsupply, I picked up a youth parka (shell) cheap for my daughter there, adds to the whole experience...they always love dressing up!
