Seen truckloads of hunters coming in.... weather is a factor.... as are the skeeters and black flies... locals hunt from their jet boats.... I'm still looking myself.

7:13 Stuart River drift, any advice? Heading up with my old man, really hoping there might be a few elk around in 3 weeks if they are there.

Good luck - I have been debating trying the Fort for years, but haven't got around to it. Looking forward to hearing how you make out. I have also heard to hunt the river...

We have killed a few nice bulls from "the Fort" when I lived there. They used to be retty concentrated around the Stuart R, especially after the burn they did there, but now they are spread out and covering more country. The Stuart R is obviously one place to check out, but any of the roads between Hooterville and The Fort that go towards the river hold elk, especially around Fish Lake and Blue Mt Road.. Thick, but they are in there. Out off the Teardrop FSR will also hold elk, as well as the Necoslie.

Good luck

Cheers

We tried the river a few years ago but had a lot of problems with river weeds getting sucked into the jet. We did see 3 guys in a 12ft. aluminum with a 9.8 motor and a six point bull in it. Not much freeboard but big grins on there faces. We were also told there were elk up in the Mount Pope area. I have a bull moose draw and hope to be up that way mid October. Ran across a half doz. cows up north road near pinchi turn off 3 yrs ago. Good Luck

Nice any pics? We ended up going to our old stomping grounds in Chetwynd and were successful there. There were locals there for a week and had not shot anything so we headed out. Ill try to post the antlers from mine tonight.

I ended up doing the Stuart River drift last year... didn't see a damn thing! Granted... we only had a 5hp and 12 ft aluminum. Got out a hiked.... Had Elk bugeling at us, saw a 50 inch bullwinkle at 750 yards, had him barking at me for 2 hrs the next day but never connected.
