Does any on know if it is possible to canoe the Graham river from Crying Girl to the Halfway river in mid Sept?

Possible yes but easy...no. The river gets very shallow in areas where the river widens out. There is also a good canyon with some good rollers and large rocks. The river is very easily floated with good rafts but not sure how many people have tried to canoe it in fall.

Tried it two years ago. Water level wasn't too bad. Unfortunately, even with a decent amount of water in the river, you get into some boulder gardens just about at the halfway mark. The elevation dips, water runs faster and it can be reasonably hairy. You get about 5 miles of challenges. Last one is just before the river starts paralleling a logging road (you can't see the road from the river). Almost lost the canoe. And as we finally got into some decent water, we happened upon the wreck of a canoe...bow (or stern) up, rest of the canoe...gone.

If you are really good canoeist and can line your canoe effectively then its ok. Put a moose or an elk in it and you have REAL challenges. We did the entire trip empty except for us two guys and some light gear. I'm very grateful we didn't shoot a moose/elk once we started the trip. We would have been hosed. We did it in two days...got to the halfway just at dark. Left crying girl at day break. Camped overnight. Left first thing the next morning...lots of floating...not much time hunting.

Very fun river to raft as mentioned above. Great fishing and decent hunting once you get below Beattie's trappers cabin. The quad hunters hunt from Crying Girl down to his cabin. Once below that there is not much pressure.

Just below the trappers cabin is where the problems start with the boulders etc.
