I was wondering if any of you guys out there have had any experience with the bushnell legend scope. I had a bushnell scopechief on my 300 win. mag. but it filled up with water on a sheep hunt this year. I sent it back to the bushnell warranty dept. and they sent me a new 3-9x40 bushnell legend as a replacement. I know I will hear the only way to go is leoupold or some other brands from some guys but since I would rather spend more money on hunting trips I'm wondering if this is at least a decent scope. Any information would be much appreciated.

I use a bushnell trophy on my 30-06 and never had any problems.

Bushnell Legend's are pretty decent actually, IMHO. I'm plotting to buy the 5-15 mil-dot version to put on my 17HMR one of these days. :)

here it goes - buy a Leupold

Legends are a step below the Bushnell Elite series, which IMO is the lowest grade scope I could reccomend to a guy to put on a rifle, especially a 300 win mag

heavy recoil and cheap scopes dont mix just my 2 cents, but you should be ok with a legend on a magnum

That was my concern. It's the old saying that you get what you pay for and the legend is only a two hundred dollar scope. I like everything about the scope but I was just worried how it would handle the shock from a 300 win. mag. Thanks for the input.

Dude -

A water filled, fogged up scope will 'ruin' your 1500 dollar fly in sheep hunt.

You're willing to shell out for big trips but not for the gear required to make it a successful trip ?

Quit wasting your time and get the Leupold and you will ensure a scope that will not fail you on a fly in trip when you need it most.

Is it a decent scope-yes. A 3200 Elite would be a good scope, a 4200 would be a very good scope. I would not even think about going on a sheep hunt with a scope I could only refer to as "decent," especially mounted on a 300 Magnum. Shell out the bucks for a good quality scope and you won't regret it, experience failure #2 with a cheap one and you will...

My old Scopechief packed it in this year,(fogged up- after the goat hunt), sao I sent it in to Bushnell. The said it was not repairable and were willing to send me "3x9-40 legend" for only $139. It retails new for $169- so I said No Thanks as I never heard anything good about the scope.

I have a Busnell 4200 on my .300 WM, it replaced a Leupold, haha! Never had a proble, with it. They are built better that the legend, but it should do you fine.
