Hey just wanted to pass this on ill try to post the pic tomorrow my wife was up Cheam MTN in Chilliwack for a hike yesterday and came across one hell of a billy he is an absolute stud from what I can see huge body and I'm guess 12 in long horns at least. Her girlfriend did an amazing job getting the pic, I know chilliwack looked like good sheep/goat country and have heard a few rumors but I'm convinced now very cool to see around home!!

Very cool. Looking forward to the pics as well. I spotted three goats a few years back on a cliff face behind Foley lake. They definitely live in the Chilliwack area.

My friend got the Cheam Ridge goat draw the last year it was available. I guessing it was about '86. Didn't get anything, only saw one. They went in somewhere.

I remember my Grandfather showing me pictures of goats shot on the Lions and other North Shore peaks. They dated to the early 20s.He climbed the area regularly and told me that the goats were heavily hunted and declining in population. Gunner

In the 6th Edition of BC Big Game Records there has only been one goat ever listed that has 12" horns.
Such a goat if he really has 12" horns could easily be a new world record.

I spent quite a bit of time hiking and deer hunting that area 2 years ago. Most of my trips I counted a dozen or so every time I went. Was a treat to see!

I was referring to the British Columbia records, not the Boone and Crockett.

I was out hunting this evening in chilliwack and took a nice long drive up to a spot i havent checked out yet and i was able to spot 3 mountain goats. It was pretty cool being able to see them up there. I only have a 5x zoom on the camera so i wasnt able to get a picture but it was still awesome.

I haven't seen a goat up Chilliwack Valley for at least 15 years good to see that they are still around.

I took a nice goat up Stave Lake in the late '60s were lots of goats taken around the Valley by those who wanted to get out and do a bit of hiking. I remember a few guys taking goats over "across the river"

20 years ago a buddy and I are pretty sure we saw a griz up Harrison Lake.

It ran across the road about 800 meters away so we only got a brief look but it was very big and didn't have the body shape of a blackie.

We didn't find any tracks and I wouldn't stake my life on it but I'm 90% certain it was a griz.

This wasn't that far up the lake either but quite a way back in in the Talc/Cogburn area of the east side.

I headed up behind tamihi today to sight in my new .17 hmr, after hiking 50 yards out into a cut and noticed a lot of what I thought were some good size deer tracks. So, once I finished up with the 17 I decided to go for a bit of a hike and follow the tracks, didn't find anything so I headed back then I looked down and saw a pile of shit but it wasn't deer, I thought I'd heard what sheep shit looked like before so I did a quick google search and it turns out that's what it was. It was really fresh and barely cool to the touch so I assume that I had just missed the thing. I was surprised at how low on the mountain it would have been.

I've been up a few times and counted 25+ on one hillside. Cool to see. If they had a leh it would be the easiest goat hunt ever.

People still kill them in the wack.
if they were left alone, maybe we could have put them back on LEH.
They were taken off LEH, in 86. (i think)
Still no hunting them after 28 yrs. ???

Last Sunday I flew in a Jet Ranger around Cheam for a few minutes and on the Lady Peak, perhaps a mile southeast of Cheam I saw a group of 5 goats and then another lone one nearby. They were quite yellow. We pulled back immediately as we don't want to disturb them but it was still a pleasure to know there are goats within an hours drive and few hours walk of my house. Also saw a bent three blade prop in the shale which couldn't have come from a story with a happy ending.
