I heard there was a buck roaming around in my neighborhood so I grabbed my camera and headed out this evening. I practiced my tracking skills and located this guy. He was not shy and allowed me to get within about 20 yards. I watched him for about 5 mins and took several photos. I am fairly new at this, but I'll guess his age at 3 years old. Am I close?

A little further on my hike I almost stepped on this. This, I really don't care if it makes it through next week. LOL.

Thanks for posting. Great photo, and yes he does look like a young buck. Perhaps 2.5 or 3.5 years old at the max. Has the potential to be very good if allowed to live for another 3-4 years. Mind you if a guy is looking for tasty meat and not bone he will fit the bill very nicely right now.

Kool snake pic as well.

I think it's a gopher snake? If so, no issues.

Great Basin Gopher Snake......we already went through all this, LOL
Nice buck, is he in a huntable zone? If he's only 2.5 (Possible), then he has great genes to be a pisscutter one day.

I agree, looks like a three year old. I hope he would make it through all the season as in two more years he will be a cranker.
