Was wondering the best route to take from the lower mainland to Invermere? The route along hwy 3 is a bit shorter than the hwy 1 route but the 2 times I went hwy 3 it was really slow going in areas with few passing opprotunities.

I would check on highway construction. I took highway 1 last year to Canal flats and it saved me an hour and felt like an easier drive.

Take hwy 1. Only three mountain passes compared to seven on hwy 3. Save time and fuel.

1 is quicker, but 3 is nicer. Depends how much of a hurry you are in.

The #3 route is longer (not shorter) and the TCH route is much faster. Go south on #95 at Golden. Avoid either route on the long weekend.

26 years of making that trip and #1 is the fastest and easiest on your equipment. I'll be catching the first ferry in the morning to be there in plenty of time for the bow opener.
I've been waiting for this day since I left last year.
