This is a buck my dad shot in 1991. It sits right above my computer and scares the crap out of everyone that I have over usually LOL. Anyways I thought I would show off my dad's nice buck for him. My friends poke fun at him because it was so long ago.. and he needs to let go

Beauty buck!

Just curious about the color of the anters. They're really light, more the color of a pick up. Exposed to sunlight??

Well it was in our old house's garage for quite some time. It could also be from the flash of the camera? I coulden't really tell you. It does get exposed to sunlight though

I would guess he would score gross towards 180. He has nice mass, and and those symmetrical, non typical points would buff his score up a bit.

A gorgeous buck nevertheless - I wouldnt "let go" or him either. Doesnt matter to me how long ago I shot a deer, if hes proud of a two point shot in 1954 thats all that matters - hes proud!

Great buck, I LOVE symmetrical NT.

SSS - Just a thought, but the lightness of the color would be exposed frm sunlight, but a possible reason for the yellow coloration around the brow tines could be from a species of tree he rubbed alot on.

My dad tells me that when he bagged him, he was still in full velvet. My dad also says that it was in the september opening.

Oh yeah, my dad also added that he had sent a tooth in to get him aged at the time, and it was estimated at around 9 1/2 yrs old.

Wow, a nice old mature buck. Good on em.

The velvet would explain the volor completly.

Beuty Buck that's forsure!! congrats. As for the antlers are concerned if he was shot in full velvet the velvet would have had to be stripped completely off dried, aged, then stained and sanded to desired coloration. The process sometimes back fires after a bit, meaning the colors start to leach and fade etc. possible the laquer* has gone bad around the bases, never the less a monster buck, (we did this process with my brothers 190" mulie this year) i'll be searching for his brother or even son in bow only season. Cheers
