Alpen Shasta Ridge Line is what I use ... for hunting and 3D

Best set of Binos you will ever get for under 3 bills ... I have had mine now since 2003 or 2004 ... sent them to factory once in 2007 for a focus screw problem ... all good

for the money they beat the hell outta comparibly priced others ... they will never hold a light to quality Euro glass .... but IMHO are comparible to $800 -1000 range euro glass

Yes, I know they're Chinese, but their new spotting scope won editor's choice this year in Outdoor Life...
at the low end of your price range you can buy the best ZenRay binocular and it's meant to be very impressive.
Check out opticstalk.com and check out some options.

I love my Vipers, I try to do side by side comparisons with different guys binos in the bush at different light levels, the place I bought from was more than happy to spend an hour with me letting me look through everything they had just for comparison even though I had a budget, I've always been happy with the results for the price point.

I'm very happy with my Vortex Diamondbacks. You can't beat the price, and warranty.

If you are just buying a backup pair until you get you main ones back I wouldn't bother with the Vipers just go with the Diamondbacks or even the Fury's. I have all three and the glass is all great but the vipers feel better than the rest for sure but the Diamondbacks glass is VERY comparable to the Vipers for less money.

I bet if you buy the Vipers then your Leupolds will be the backup pair when you get them back...lol...

I would have a look at the Nikon Monarchs...London Drugs sells the 10x42 for $399. I have the 10x56 and love 'em.

A couple years ago I dropped my Vipers and bent the eyecup so I sent them in after hunting season. I don't remember how long it took them to get them back to me again but it was far less than your 4 months.
