Glad they released it. Buck or doe this one needs to reproduce.

Fought for a hour, hauled into the boat and a large portion of slime rubbed off in a bear hug. Someones full of shit when they say there is 100% chance of survivial for spawning.

Awesome fish! Gotta agree with ozone on this one. There's a chance it will survive to spawn - but not 100% chance.

I think the salmon fishery should be retention only. Just my opinion, but there is no way the survial rate is 100% for a released salmon. Nice fish though! Bet her arms were sore.

Imagine the Cedar plank BBQ steaks off of that beast. Great fish. Good on them for releasing it, I'd have a hard time with that though!

theres a better chance of the fish surving if you let it go than bonking it. something will eat it even if it does die, seems like a waste sometimes, but when you think of it, it is feeding something else.

Do you think these fish are headed south? http://scienceblogs.com/zooillogix/2008/11/13/monstrous-chinook-salmon-found/

Nice salmon for a spring or king salmon, great for the woman and her guide.

That little fellow is definatly not heading south. Heading up to spawn in the whonnock river with about 3000-4000 of his buddies that where fortunate enough to make it back home this year past all the funny herring with no heads! There are still springs coming into this system topping 100-110 lbs... They just don't get caught...

Yep. We have a photo on our wall with a 106lb spring(commercial caught mind you)
Doing a hatchery egg take acouple years ago a buck estimated close to 120 was caught in the tangle net. Biggest buck I have handled was around 100 in mid November after spawning. Measuring around the wrist of its tail was 12"...

They are somewhat of a shadow of their former selves. At that point they have a real nasty "fuzz" growing on them. The best part is knowing that they really are out there and the freight train you hooked and lost without ever seeing could have been one of these fish. Afew of the big kahunas found in the river every year have alot of gear in and on them.

Biggest chinook ever was caught commercially off rivers inlet. It weighed 126 pounds.
