I have a blind set up at a secret spot where I had several blacktail encounters last year & am taking a day off to sit there dawn to dusk Sept. 10th! Struggling to find a decent archery spot though.

This is the 5th year I've taken the first week of youth season off. It's REAL quiet!!! We've been lucky and connected on all but one year. The down side is it can be a little on the warm side some years.

Both kids will be looking for Bambi in the Adams lake area. But if a bruin gets in the way!!!

September 10th out real early in Reg 3 with a hunting buddy hoping to find a lazy BIG 4 muley in an area I have hunted many times. I know the area well and have seen several big ones but only shot 1 big one only as that are really laid back on the 10th but not from the 11th onward. Lots of spikes, two's & three's but none of those this year for me. Good luck everyone this season. Hunt likes it your last.

Taking Monday Sept 10 off for a day of coastal blacktail hunting at my local spot may head up there on Sunday afternoon/evening instead of racing up Monday morning.

Bigger question for me is what rifle/cartridge combo do I take leaning towards either my semi-auto Robinson Arms XCR-L or my single shot T/C Contender carbine both are chambered in 6.8SPC.

AAHHHH yes, you could say I took off the first week of Rifle season. Between Sept 7th and Nov 21 I work 8 days, all of them in the first two weeks of October when mulie hunting is slow. I take all my holidays in the fall.

Any body have any luck?
I missed a short but sweet chance and a 6x6 WT in full velvet on opening day.
On the way to a spot that my wife and i had seen a very tall 4x4-no velvet .
Came around the corner to see the 6x6 just enough time to jump out of the truck, slap one in the camber.
While he ever so calmy turned around (while i was fumbling to get one in the gun)
And vanished into the trees. (damn)
Settled for a spike on tuesday the 11th. Some legal issues chose to arise on monday night.
But theres some meat in the freezer!
