Took the boy to the area and found it to be really slow. Has anyone been scouting with some info on the area this year?

Might help to narrow things down a bit, Doug. Region 3 is pretty big. Hard to understand your post, too. Was it slow last year or while you were scouting recently?

If you went this weekend it might have been the heat. I was out as well i know the deer are there just didn't see as many as the week before

Heat this past weekend for sure. Was out early Saturday morning with a hunting buddy until mid day. We were up as high as 5,200 ft. Saw a few does, 4 blacks, coyote, rabbits etc. but not one grouse in 7+ hours. The deer are there just in where it's cooler with food & water close by. Should cool done by your/my September hunt start times.

My honey holes do not show too much sign until September, maybe half way into the month.

Can be a little frustrating when scouting in the summer, but they show

I don't know about you guys but when I go scouting it isn't all about just seeing animlas. It's seeing any road access changes, new logging cut blocks, changes in terrain, seeing changes in the height of the trees verus last fall in replanted blocks. And looking for new sites nearby to consider hunting etc. That way when I head out early on opening day and any hunting day thereafter there should be no surprises while I drive in to position before hiking off. Nothing worse than getting a surprise just before sun up that ruins the morning hunt and then having to scramble to reposition.
