WCVI August17&18 2012

Just got back early from 2 days up at Da Beach. We didn't pursue salmon on Friday and just had fun jigging all afternoon. Lot's of lings around and we caught some decent rock fish as well. No hali's for us on Friday. It was nice getting away from the heat on the ECVI and the foggy conditions were welcomed!

We tried trolling around for a couple of hours on Saturday out at the wreck and managed on small coho. We decided to bomb closer in and take advantage of the high slack tide and do some hali jigging. Only one in the boat after a couple of hours jigging but it was worth it http://www.sportfishingbc.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.png. 165 feet of water and using a white grub on a spreader bar. My best halibut to date at 51 inches and it took some good runs which made it fun to reel in.

Hopefully we can pick up a few salmon next weekend.

My buddies are sushi hounds and make some pretty wicked dishes. Those cones where hand made in the camper lol. They were sooooo good!!!

That second pic is my bad editing of a dark photo using photobucket's editor. I can't edit my posts so it will have to stay I guess.

Would love to do the Tuna some day.
Look like pre-reqisites to fish with Johnnybear are : Bring lotsa beer (Lucky Lager perhaps), wasabi and a grey Stansfield. :D

Oh and love the cleaning table at the transom! Very cool! Saves all the guts at the dock.

Looks like you guys had a good time John, Shotgun John and I went out Saturday and we managed a 17 lb Spring. We did bring two coho into the boat but had to release them both as they were wild. We even managed to get 5 rock cod and a greenling while trolling for salmon so no need in stopping to jig for them at the end of the day.:mrgreen:

Lots of boys going tuesday for tuna!~!

Yeah I'm playing it by ear. Birdsnest on SFBC proved the chloro's wrong. 9 for 11 on the weekend and the chloro's looked iffy. That's pretty lucky. The temps were good and the seas were awesome on Saturday and Sunday. We average 28 mph on the way out and 32 on the way in. Doesn't get much flatter than that!

He was almost to big for the cooler was in a boomerang shape till I straightened him out. LOL
