I've been seeing this buck in the same spot on my way to work almost every morning. This morning I brought my spotting scope to get a better look at him and snap a few pictures.

I've got a bow and bow season is open all of september.

I was wondering what you guys think he would score, its not super important to me as I've never killed a deer with a bow, but i'm trying to get better at judging bucks in the field.

He's fairly tall, not very wide, great forks, and as a friend pointed out short mainbeams. So how big do you think he is? ???-140-150-160-170-??? I do know velvet is misleading. I have my own guess but I'd like to see how close I am.

He had a buddy, but his antlers did not interest me much.

Main beams are a little sawed off, but tall and good forks like you say. I think he'll still go low 170s.

He'll go good in the frying pan too. :)

Nice buck Kyle, from what I can see, he's nearly identical to this buck, which scored 166 gross. Would be a nice bow kill!

High 150's to low 160's would be my call.

While I tend to agree he appears to be a younger buck, and if that is so, would be a better Shooter after another year of growth, I also believe he would be a Fine buck to take with a bow. And of course there is always the possibility that someone else already has plans for him as well... Opportunity Knocks!

Cheers,
Nog

Easily 150" but if you can hold off untill next year and he makes it thru the hunting season...well...then you should have a super buck.

If it was me I could not wait unless he was ALWAYS on privet land.

I think everyone is low. His forks look 10'' deep to me. I'll say 170 to 175 net.

Hey Kyle
I am not sure but the bases look burred up, the left side seems to run down his face a bit. Burred based bucks usually get a good H1 score he appears to be a low 170 buck to me with 20 days of growing left. If you can arrow him this year don't wait people usually don't pass on these guys. If you are seeing him most days that means others are as well. Good luck with your bow, hope to see some success pictures in Sept.
Mike

I'm thinking 160ish He doesn't lose anything side from side.....fairly even. Short mains, with smallish brows, but everything is fairly even...difficult estimating all the g measurements.......160 (+-).......
Sit on him for a year, and click him at 175 .....

Who cares what he scores, he would be a great bow buck. Any buck with a bow for your first kill is great.

Kyle I think he's 160 give or take couple inches on either side. If it can help you The one I have on my wall is 169 7/8 and I score tight. Try it out bow hunting on deer you'll learn and it's fun. Good luck.

Its absolutely impossibole those bucks are NOT well over 160". I have shot mid 150 blacktails and if they even came close to lookin like that no one would believe me !...guesses in the 150's are totally absurd.......170" way more like it.

anything less than 180 is a meat buck,

so if mule deer meat excites you's ? then shoot the deer ! dont worry if it is 150 or 160 ! :-P

What you do have there is some real nice photos. Nice looking bucks. I'm no expert but I'll side on the 160+ estimate. As a bowhunter, flattops are a trophy. The magnitude of the trophy depends on the greatness of the hunt. Work hard, make a good shot, feel emotionally rewarded = priceless trophy. Same animal, road hunting not so much.
