Anybody know if the Pinks are running late up Campbell River this year? Went fishing there tonight with some buddies, and in 3 hours only caught 8. I've heard in the past you can catch your limit of 4 in less than 2 hours. Any help would be great. "Tight lines and sharp hook."

Not trying to be a smart ass, but if you caught 8 in 3 hours you are doing it wrong. I dont keep them as i think they are gross or hali bait, but they are fun as shit to catch. My buddy and I landed 70ish in about 3 hours on Monday, and lost probably another 50 or so. I had a hook up 16 casts in a row at one point. You could walk across the river on salmon backs.

Run about 6-8 foot leaders under a float with a weight about half way up it. Tie on any colour wool you want.

(spare me the flossing debate) ]

Sorry, never mind me. I'm just over here on the ML beating another deer with a shovel. bit early, so keep it quiet.

Don't worry, it's all flossing no matter how you dress it up. A plain hook with a bit of wool will catch just as many as a handcrafted fly.

Why not ust get 'em out in the Chuck, when they're all nice and shiny, and they hit flies and buzz bombs?
Nothing wrong with a fresh Pink. :D

Pinks in the Campbell are silver bright right now. They do not have to be "flossed",one hell of a lot of fun on a light fly rod.

Fly Rods are the ultimate flossing tool.

Haha no doubt! It kills me every time i hear a spey or fly guy talk about how flossing is BS when they are running a 10foot sinking line hahaha

So true. Swing any lure, fly across the flow into a lie of hundreds of open mouths and eventually your going to get a hook-up. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but a spades a spade. A bit of yarn makes the hook 'fish' better and stick a little. Same goes with dragging plugs from row boats in the staging water, eventually someone catches one in the yapper.

I was running a sink tip line, with a 6 foot, 5lb flouro leader, anything pink and small (size 10 and under) swung across with slow long pulls. Worked great, zero snags and no flossing, for me anyways. Im sure you could get them with a faster retrieve but using the slow retrieve I have had zero snags this year.
