Just bought a new bag from MEC and I didnt ask if it was ok to store it in my compresion sack. Is there a proper way to store my new down bag?

Don't keep it stored in a compression sack, it can have effects on the down after long periods of time. Store it in a large sleeping bag sack or if you have the room unrolled. I hang my down bag on the wall as it has loops to hang from.

Some bags come with a large mesh storage bag along with a compression sac. Best way is to hang it in a closet similar to the way you see them displayed in store. They will retain their loft longer this way

Dollar store and pick up a large laundry bag to store it in.

I am pretty sure the MEC down bags come with a cotton bag for hanging and storage. I know the last one I purchased did.

The one I got from MEC came with a big cotton bag similar in size to a garbage bag to store it in uncompressed.

A closet sounds great but i just don't have the room.

Uncompressed to preserve loft (which helps keeps you warm). Away from moisture good too (i.e. uncompressed in damp garage or basement bad).

Definitely store it uncompressed, I just toss mine loose on the top shelf in a closet. If you find it has compacted you can throw it into a drier (WITHOUT HEAT!!!) with a couple of tennis balls. It helps to break up compacted insulation and regain some loft.

Just bend the hook of a metal coat hanger upwards so it is somewhat parallel with the bottom (horizontal) part of the hanger. Unzip your bag at the foot end, put then hanger in, zip it back up and you've got a nice way to hang it.
