Just wondering what everyones opinion is when it comes to storing your guns. Do you guys leave your guns in gun socks? Has anyone tried both storing them in gun socks and leaving them just bare? Just looking for good ways to prevent my guns from rusting. I took them out today and noticed a small amount of rust on them. If anyone has any better ways of storing I would love to hear them.

I use one for my shotgun (silicone impregnated) during the hunting season for transportation. Otherwise, its in the safe with the rest of the toys.

Do you use any dehumitifier? have you ever noticed any surface rust on your guns?

No,I have a dehumidifier in my home and i've never had a problem so far. You should put a thin film of oil on your toys when you store them anyway.

When you spray your guns do you take the stock off or do you just spray them with g96?

Rem-Oil is the best anti-rust oil I've ever used. Spray a gun patch and rub it over all exposed metal and your good to go for a long time. On the occasional times I take my rifles apart, I will give all the hidden parts a good going over as well....

Rem oil is good, cheap and has spray on conveinience. ;)

I think you would make a nice mess spraying the G96 on the sock, take it off. I have a few gun socks and sometimes leave them on in the safe, there is one on a gun right now, last week there was about 3-4 with the socks on. They also help prevent safe kisses. I don't know if they help with rust prevention or not. If you clean and store your firearms properly you should have no problems with rust. Cheers Roscoe

I spray the foam in my safe with wd40 twice a year. Also the inside of all my cases. store my guns in their birthday suits, never had a rust issue
