Anyone have experience with these? Seems like a good idea except where you are above the treeline.

For the coin, I'm seriously thinking about adding one to my gear collection. Very little weight, no need to have flat ground, and should have very little problems with condensation. Could be just the ticket for "Light over Night" elk hunting....

The Hennessy's at MEC are quite a bit cheaper, than the one in your link.....

The ones online come with the snack for storage I think.

I have this one here: http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/HikingCamping/Tents/Hammocks/PRD~5024-732/hennessy-expedition-asymmetrical-zip-hammock.jsp

I slept in it for the first time this past weekend. Previously, I only used it for hanging out in and napping, not for actually sleeping. I noticed two things: 1. You lose a great deal of heat without a sleeping pad or foam mat underneath you, 2. It is way more comfortable without said mat.

Really easy to set up, as long as the trees around you are up to the task, and I have no worries about it holding up to rain, as long as there isn't too much wind to go with it. If there was wind, I'd want to set up an extra siltarp or something for protection.

You definetly need a foam mat, also put a sheet on the mat or your back will be soaking wet.

Ive had one for about 6 or 7 yrs. Brand is Montane, i think, they dont make them anymore i believe.

My experiene with these are, they are great in rain, bad in cold, no insulation underneath you. Nice to get out of the reach of bears if u can climb well enough. Not nice to get out of to take a piss at night when u r up high, and in bad weather.

A sleeping pad is a must! I have been thinking about incorporating a bivy sack to combat colder temps.

3 nights max before your back is sore, and you really do have to sleep on your back, not your side.
