View Full Version : New tracking dog pup landed in BC

Getting a new puppy is always extremely exciting, full of joy and these little guys put a smile on your face from dawn to dusk. Exceptions allowed when things get chewed up that are not meant to be.


We have been waiting for many years and it was not certain we would ever get one but on July 17th I went to YVR to pick up our newest member of the family, Benjy. (Yes I know it is spelled wrong, but he doesn’t really care)
I had it in my head over 10 years ago that I wanted a Hanoverian Scenthound (HS) and now it actually happened.


The tracking training has already begun and Mook (9) our seasoned tracker will show him the real deal for the next two to three seasons then we will have what we hope to be one of the best tracking dogs around.
Benjy is the only HS from the Verein Hirschmann with papers in North America. Here some pics:

Love those big floppy ears, looks like his older adopted sibling is giving him a lesson in manners LOL

Wait to go micheal,what an awesome looking pup.i know it's not going to take long with mook being his mentor.

He is gorgeous! I love the one where he is lying on you looking up, really sweet. Can't wait to see more!

Scenting ablitily is definitly gonna play a factor in the next dog I buy. But I got a long shopping list of traits I wanna avoid and have, so its doubtful I'll ever find the "perfect" dog.

its great to see that this breed is slowly making its way over here.
Best all-around tracking dog i have ever met .
Did you import him from Germany or Austria?
I was looking for one but couldn't find a N American breeder i liked.
I think that makes it now 2 HS in all of BC :)
