Hey Im from alberta Looking to bag a turkey. I usually do a fair bit of fishing in the Kootenay region through out the year. Im very interested in bagging a turkey. I have pretty much no experience turkey hunting. But am an avid moose, deer and elk hunter. I have only ever seen two turkeys in my time in BC. All of which fairly close to Cranbrook on what im assuming was private land. Could anyone point me in Direction of some public land I can find turkey and may have a chance of bagging one ? What is my best option ? Running the hills Gobbling ? Any info appreciated. Any one willing to take a Young New turkey hunter out ? Show me the ropes ? Considering heading out for this fall season but if not, For sure the 2013 Spring i will be out putting miles on no matter what it takes.
Thanks for any info.

I dont have a ton of turkey experiance, but if you head to the kootneys all I did was walk until I saw sign and started calling, there are a ton of birds around you should have no problem at least seeing them

Search out previous threads, but your best chance will be in the spring.
