Optex from London Drugs. Way better than any of those Gitzo carbon fiber jobbies with ballheads.

High grade aluminum and plastic that can stand up in a stiff mountain breeze.

I recommend one with a built in head and panning handle. The best!

my spotter is an oldly and is straight, uses the same base mount as most new digital cameras.
it has had a life on an old optex aluminum tripod, just wondering if the carbon/light weight ones have comedown in price
