Was flipping through a few of my fishing pictures and thought I would toss this up.
I've caught some great Springs over the years but this one was incredibly long.
Has more of a Steelhead-esque type profile. I took one of my suppliers and a couple guys from one our key accounts out. We were not guided.
The dude holding the fish is from LA.......he was tickled pink.
Does a lot of fly fishing so he was golden on the Islander reel, played him like a pro.
Anyway, here he is.

Nice slab, goes well with the sun burn! Nothing like pickin' up a 30+ in 30-40' of water. Caught many like that in Nootka... It's all about the tach...

Geez - those are some awesome slabs, Ourea! You're making me miss the west coast in a big way. Not really inspiring me to fish osoyoos lake for 4 pound sockeye. Ha ha! Kinda makes me want to hit the Fraser for a quick spring fix.

nice tyee, but what was the weight of this nice one.

Dock was super busy when we came in so we didn't through it up on the scale.
The fish was ridiculously long. If I recall it was something stupid like 45".
It was over 50 lbs for sure.

I better rephrase, caught many good ones, never a 50!
Largest to date is a 42, next being a 37. It's all about the singing MR3s anyways...
Nice hauls Ourea

The second shot of the four springs, 42 lbs to 68 lbs.......just hit a run of huge fish that flood....was an amazing day.
North of Rupert for those that are curious.

Work Channel, Dolphins North?

Beautiful Smileys Ourea! All are hogs, but that one is amazing!

Eleven years ago I took my wife-to-be fishing in Rivers Inlet. During that 7 day trip we saw 2 fish weighed in at Dawson's Landing that went over 70 pounds. Our largest went 51 and 50 pounds, mine being the smaller of the two. We caught 11 Springs that trip with not one under 34 pounds. It kind of ruined a guy for fishing anywhere else.

During that trip we talked to the fisheries guys that were stationed on a float right next to Dawson's Landing. To go over to Dawson's, all they had to do was walk up a ramp to shore and then walk 100 feet to the ramp going down to the Dawson's float. They told us that they only went over to look at a fish being weighed if it looked like it was over 50 pounds. They said that some days they made the trip over a dozen times.

Good job friend! I just got back from the WCFC and we did just fine once again. Another set of pins to add to the collection :-)

I came home with a 54 Hali so that should add to the winter selection :-)

A pair of decent chinook caught pulling plugs on the Kitimat. Mine came from a hole right under the bridge. I saw it roll in the tailout and had it hammer my plug shortly after.

Six on six off - 12 hour shifts for me. Although I usually end up working an eighteen and six. 60+ days of OT last year didn't leave much time for on the water. I hope to fix that soon!

Thanks Ourea, you've got me all fired up!

Keep the pictures coming.
