My FIL gave me an old Fiberglass Fly Rod, so I took it out and tried my hand at Walleye and Pike with it. This was the first fish I landed with the old girl. Not a monster, but fun all the same:smile:.
Just got back from a 3 week family trip in the bush, I imagine I will post up some more vids and pics as time allows.

It was a fun day, and I bet that rod hasn't been used in over 20yrs.

Nice fish well done ,I am surprised the leader held and did not break on thier sharp teeth, must of been a hoot catching him.

Wicked teeth on those things.
I tried something different, I found some thin wire leader and some clamps, I attached a length of wire leader right to the lures I was using. They still chewed up the wire, but it lasted longer than the Mono Line would have.

Wire leader is what we used to use when fishing for pike in northern Alberta, it was required gear because they got up to 30# with razor sharp teeth 1/4 to 1/2 inch long and a mouth that is all teeth.
