Just wondering if anyone has experience boating/hunting on the Fort Nelson River. What class of river is it? Good moose/elk/fishing?? Lots of other boat traffic?

Thanks!

About ten years ago I canoed the Nelson from just south of town up to where the highway crosses on the north side. Saw/called a cow moose... TONS of tracks but didn't see any bulls. Took three days. I'd love to do that trip again and was planning to do it this season with my partner who decided that a trip back east with his wife was a priority! Huh??? So I considered doing it solo but on advise of others it is much safer to have a couple canoes/people...

easy river to run. usually muddy. natives usually have a camp at the bridge on the simpson hyway. watch for mud bars!!! they really suck your boat in!! good camp opposite side of the river from the native camp at the ice bridge location. can run up to ft nelson, down to liard then up to canyon on liard or down to the border with the nwt
