pre rut buck calling?

what do you use to call a buck in the pre rut(early sept/oct)? would a buck respond to "another buck" performing a challenge call during this phase? i would be in the squamish area or perhaps harrison hot springs area.

I use the Deer Talk Talk Caller it worked very well for me..
