As I promised once home from Van gen Hospital and my most recent kidney surgery, 2 now in 3 months..I did in fact contact and speak with the head of Conservation services for the Cariboo Chilcotin, Len.

First off LEN is no dummy, and is as stand up as they come. PERIOD.Ws spoke of the document that was brought out last week..the concerns that we as taxpaying legally licensed spôrtsmen and women have with the comments and the bands intentions ÀS WRITTEN`.

I addressed our concerns..regarding cow-bull ratio, non reporting of moose shot by FN actual numbers, what constitutes enough, one animal per household, hmm with 5 for ceremonial band use..those numbers need to be addressed so we know when the numbers wont substain a recreational non native LEH moose hunt...FIRST COMES animal protection..enough to live , breed and survive and increase, THEN native subsistence hunts...then sportspersons...aND IF WE DONT KNOW HOW MANY ARE BEING SHOT and whats reasonable allocation for first nations we wont know when a shut down is warranted by recreational hunters, guides or even first nations.

Perhaps it should be SHUT DOWN FOR EVERYONE UNTILL WE KNOW THE NUMBERS. SHUTDOWN AND ENFORCED ON EVERYONE

These concerns were clearly understood by LEN, and the `kindly escorted out portion..

LEN will be holding a meeting with Chief Joe.
This letter will be discussed with Stewart from enviroment.
This letter has or will very soon be up the highest level of government

The issue of precidents..is clearly understood.

Thank you for your Prayers and well wishes ...I am going away for some quiet time with my wife and our fur child Ebony.

My next action is a meeting with MLA Barnett
then chief Joe himself.

cheers

Steven

I admire your efforts Steven and the many concerned Hunters both Non and native that are genuinely concerned but ......... that said ...... and I hate to be negative but I can hear it now.

" CO ...... and why have you not reported this animal ?? ....... I ... I... I.. forgot " but likely with out hesitation..... Mandatory with FINES that STICK for non reporting !

Equal rights for all, this is only the Start if this goes through ......... then the way of the Fraser River salmon fishery ...... an absolute mockery .

Get better S. Rupp and all the speediest recovery to you.

Hi Steven - glad to hear you are back at home and are recovering well ! thats Great News ! You WILL need your rest to out fish me next week ! LOL RJ

As far as the moose situation goes I do believe it should be shut down to ALL including the FN's and a recovery plan in place to recover the moose herds ! I also think there a need for agood plan on the reduction of predators mostly Bears and Wolfs also ! This should be in place quickley and last probably for a 3-5 year period and then looked at the herd size - maybe only LEH's then - who knows BUT something has to be done SOON !

Welcome back, here's to a speedy recovery!

Way to go for going straight to the source and having conversations with Chief Joe and MLA Barnett. A great example in being positive and proactive!

Take it easy

I also believe that this is THE BEST solution at this time Jim...untill we get the #s ..how many moose by first nations, a reasonable and honest number of moose present today and the impact of wolves and bears..without facts we could be dooming the moose population for decades... by shutting the entire west chilcotin down to no moose hunting PERIOD no exceptions...let the numbers first be determained..and by shutting everyone down..we already know the # of moose lehs for bulls out..and the historical harvest #s, now we need the cow/bull ratio..total # of animals out there and first nation harvest bull vs cows ..and TOTALS.. and if these harvest #s are legit, needed or exceeding the sustinance ceremonial #s that are reasonable.

Also a plan for the wolf issue and bear issue..

I dont know if I mentioned it ?? however my meeting with Len from C/O was face to face..you can learn a LOT by talking with a individual... we have some great C/O 's here and Len certainly is here to protect the wildlife and every legitimate hunters rights could not have asked for a better man at such a critical time..

Jim we will be @ Sherridan lake Resort Dave and Beckys Tuesday..I have some leech flies tied up for you...no hooks just flies..lol

cheers\

Good to hear you are OK Steven and I agree with you and others to shut down moose hunting for all, till the population recovers.
